Where have they gone? Those friends from long drama and heavy conversations that are forgotten but for the feeling of being near. Close. Yet across a room, a city, a country. Where have they gone? The one that laughed and lost control and was forever crying out “Look at me.” Where have they gone? Those of long hillside walks and hikes on city streets looking for something that is now not even remembered… except for the nearness and sinking of one soul into another. Gone and sometimes forgotten. Then an embryo of recollection responds to a smell, a song, a color flashing across a fence. There they are again. Not gone. Yet not quite here either. But then, may neither am I.
