the true meaning of friendship

Dictionary Meaning: Friendship is a term used to denote co-operative and supportive behaviour between two or more humans.

Well ok the dictionary has it right but it doesn’t at the same time. Friendship is so much more. I have learnt this.

I doubt anyone will actually read this but I’m going to type it anyway because it is important to me.

Friendship to some people is just having friends or someone you can socialise with. To some people it is whoever isn’t your enemy is your friend.

So yeah. That’s everyone else. But now I will tell you what it means to me.

In my world there are three levels of friendship.

-Besties

-Mates

-Acquaintances

Acquaintances are the people that you can have an occasional chat to or laugh with or you just know exist and sometimes wave to eachother.

Mates are the people that you can talk openly with but you have to mind what you say or how you say it because you don’t want to embarrass yourself or offend them. You trust them with stuff but sometimes it can be awkward. You have fun with these people and have memories with them.

And besties you never have to worry about who you are, what you say or how you act because they love you for who you are, no matter what you do or no matter what you say. And no matter what you do you make memories.

So‚Ķthat’s the basic stuff. But what is friendship to me?

A friendship is something between two or more people that is special. No friendship is alike. Friendship is built on trust, honesty and love. Then there is fun.

So what is a true friend?

A true friend is someone you can come to at anytime about anything. A true friends listens to you even though they may not want to. A true friend will cry and laugh with you. A true friend will stand up for you when you can’t do it on your own. A true friend will always take your side, even though the may know you’re wrong. A true friend will make you cry but be there to catch your tears. A true friend feels bad about stuff that has happened to you even though they had nothing to do with it. A true friend will sit up with you for hours on end listening to you crap on about nothing. A true friend will only want to be with you when they are hurting. A true friend will love you no matter what. A true friend is the one that you never run out of things to talk about. And a true friend will put up with your good, your bad and your ugly.
