Artist's Description

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing on Thursday when this tiny insect fluttered like a little moth before me. I was continuing my Common Blue and Small Copper expedition, hoping to find a female Common Blue.
So, back to this butterfly, was it a very dark female CB or, dare I hope, a Brown Argus? I haven’t seen any for a few years, and only one many years ago here on Walmgate Stray.
David, an expert in BA, has confirmed my tentative ID.
Today, I found a second insect. It’s difficult to distinguish the sexes, but next year there may be more???
To add to the confusion, although he’s brown, he’s actually part of the blue family, which is very obvious from the markings of the underwing.

Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
If you have no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain.

“Of one Essence is the human race,
thus has Creation put the base;
One Limb impacted is sufficient
For all Others to feel the Mace ”
