Forever a symbol of decadence and beauty (and often frivolousness), Marie Antoinette is always depicted in elaborate dresses, sky-high hair, gorgeous headpieces, jewels… and then there is the cake. While she is usually credited to the phrase “Let them eat cake,” it cannot officially be linked to her. Even still, Marie is usually surrounded by desserts of all kinds.

I’ve always been interested in Marie Antoinette, and couldn’t wait to create my own version of her, using a vintage record album cover. I included as many desserts of possible, thinking that she would be the perfect unique piece of kitchen decor. Cakes, cookies, cupcakes.. most of which I cut out from this amazing vintage cake decorating book.

I created this elegant lady using acrylic paint, white out pen, vintage book pages, found paper, doilies, white out pen, watercolor, and glitter!
