autumns delight

crisp leaves crunch underfoot
wisps of smoke curl out of a
red brick chimney
into the chill air
that bites at my fingers
and nose
swirling leaves spiral down
a shower of golds and reds
fall to the frosted ground
you grab my hand and in the
other you hold a dainty maroon
leaf flecked with orange we
spin around in a blur
for you my dear are
summers daughter
singing to the earth
working your magic as the
wind flushes your cheeks
your auburn hair soars about
your pretty little head
autumn my child your here
o how i wish you could stay
near

autumns delight
