An avid photographer since I was 10 years old, my loves are nature – both in macro and landscapes – the stunning raw beauty...

I received my earliest inspiration from my photography-mad grandfather, who built his own enlarger out of a large Golden Circle pineapple tin; one of my prized possessions is his old Rollicord camera, which still takes amazingly sharp photos if and when I can find the correct film, and someone to develop and process it!

So it is not surprising that my passion for photography preceeded the gift of my first B&W camera on my tenth birthday.

I still vividly remember my very first photo ~ an old rusted car up a tree! It had been fixed to the trunk as an advertisment for something; a car museum I think.

This love of the photographic medium grew in my teens to include Super 8 movies. I still have all my 3 minute ones, along with some 20 minute and half hour edited and spliced productions.

As a young adult I studied photography while at University.
In one class we were given SLRs with macro lenses and the task of going to the botanical gardens to take macro slides.

I was hooked! It drew me like the proverbial moth; I was totally entranced and captivated by seeing and capturing the magical microcosms in nature, and every little piece of the Creation I could discover, through the macro lens.

After many years without a good camera, I returned to this, my first love, and began recapturing and discovering my passion for photography with a digital fixed lens SLR.
Since then I have progressed and entered the world of DSLRs, with a Sony a330 and most recently, a Canon 5D Mk II. While I know this has been superseded now, as I bought it from my youngest (professional) son, I’m enjoying exploring and learning it. The joys of shooting with a full image sensor at my disposal has reignited my creativity.
In fact, it enhances and enables me to try capturing new subjects.
Since first entering the digital world I have also branched out into other genres, exploring the larger canvas of landscapes, people caught in the midst of their everyday activities & portraiture, as well as lot of churches and stained glass windows.

As I continue to explore and widen my own horizons, I am venturing into using my photography outside the safe confines of the [red] Bubble. But it was here that I began my digital journey, and found the support and encouragement of like-minded enthusiasts I needed to enable to me take this step.

As I have grown, so my joy has also, as I continue to give the glory to the One who has blessed me so richly.

I do hope you enjoy looking through my portfolio of works and find something in them that touches your heart.
