Armagedon

Armagedon comes, to end the world.
Into darkness, mankind is hurled.
All religion heralds, a horrid fate.
With a common thread, that it’s too late.
Death will come, for each in turn.
Saints will rise, while sinners burn.

Two armies set, to wage a war.
The earth beset, their stage, their floor.
For the petty rage, of God and Devil.
The mortal realm, of man they’ll level.
A human life, but a grain of sand.
Neither cares, for the fate of man.

With each death, another soldier appears.
To form the lines, absolved of fears.
They will fight, for a dogmatic cause.
The zealots blind, to unquestioned flaws.
For either side, the truth’s unknown.
The seats of power, are empty thrones.

A higher power, than either one.
Knows them both, and calls them son.
She gave them earth, a world to share.
Expecting them both, to nurture and care.
With the planet their playground, they bickered and fought.
So she removed them both, but the damage was wrought.

Angels stand, on heavenly guard.
In trying times, their purity’s marred.
Decisions made, in desperate times.
May be beyond, all reason and rhymes.
To release a being, God had imprisoned.
This was hardly the saviour, they had envisioned.

Demons command the ranks of hell.
Beasts and monsters, rotting shells.
Claws and teeth, await their foes.
A deafening beat, of hate fueled blows.
Tearing flesh, and pain filled screams.
Will echo throughout, eternal dreams.

And so the final hour, is at hand.
The final battle, for this land.
Only one victor, shall emerge.
From the earth, the losers purged.
But a hollow victory, shall be taken.
Our world destroyed, this realm forsaken.
