Artist's Description

The nest was attempted 3 times before this sight was determined to be the best…that was accomplished sometime around May 10th.

Assuming that she has laid the standard 4 eggs, one each day, that would be about May 14-15th that she would have finished and began incubating them at that point. Supposedly until they’ve laid a full clutch, robins allow all the eggs to stay cool so the babies don’t start to develop and will hatch close to the same time.

Based on a 12-14 day incubation period it would be my guess that the babies should arrive sometime around the 27th-29th or sooner.

But she obviously knows better than I!

The nest is fairly high up and this shot was taken with my telephoto so I am not sure if or what kind of shot I will be able to get once the babies arrive. I will however enjoy hearing them tweeting…the only real “tweeting” !

5-26-09 update…baby’s have hatched. See the link below for the first shots. I have taken them from a distance so as not to disturb the new parents…hope to get closer when they are older…http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/232468646010...
