Artist's Description

Long Synopsis ʻI Become The Sunʼ
She explores the depths and darkness within to reach the light of truth. And when she
encounters the truth she finds it difficult to look it into the eye. The more she explores, the
more she falls for it. She overcomes all her fears and discovers love, the love for being,
love for freedom, the love for life. The inhabitations start falling apart. The celebration
starts, the love burns her and she becomes the source of love, she becomes the sun.
The solutions to our sufferings lie inside of us. It is out of love for self being and own
freedom that the compassion for humanity and respect for life emanates. Once we
discover the truth and realize this love, we not only overcome our own suffering but
provide ways to others to overcome it. The lives and works of Sufi saints and poets have
been an example of this. Sufi poetry inspires to rise above the restraints of cast, creed and
sex, liberate ones self and give in to the unadulterated love for humanity and follow the
path of compassion. As unconditional, as enlightened, as like the sun.
The film is inspired by the Sufi poetry of Baba Bulle Shah, a 17th century poet from Punjab
and it was shot in a 500 years old dark room of Sarkhej Roja Mosque. The light in this
room comes only for one hour before sunset. The film was shot in four days using only
natural light to capture the sprit of space.
