My Memory of the Moon

My memory of the moon,
Enlightening life’s waters as dockland faded distantly,
Harbouring paternal thought.
Alas, my father sat to the left
And my mother was always right when she said,
“Time heals even the deepest of wounds”
Four thousand three hundred and twenty minutes –
The average time it takes for lunar orbit.
A fraction of the duration the heart takes to abandon adolescence.
