Solo Show Opening June 3rd

Friends! It’s been nearly 1 & 1/2 years since my last solo show, so it’s time again to show my work to the world! (Well, at least to the Sydney area!) This show is a bit different for 2 reasons: I will hang 6 images to start with – available for viewing on May 18th. The rest (20 more) will hang on the 31st of May, and the big opening night will be June 3rd. The show will run until the 18th of June. Secondly, a portion of the sales from this show will be sent to beyondblue. I’m all about raising not only funds, but awareness of suicide and mental health. Please come see my work when you can…lots of dates available! And while you’re there, have yourself some yummy food, wine and cocktails! A big thanks in advance to the lovely curator of this show, Khara Edwards at ZGallery and of course, Z…

Disappointed

After being unsuccessful trying to drag new images from my library into folder galleries on my Bubblesite, and then being told by “Support” that Bubblesites weren’t being maintained or updated, I was left feeling unloved and unsupported.

The lovely “Tammara” told me that lots of “exciting changes” were happening to the main redbubble site, but that none of those changes applied to the Bubblesites. I guess it’s all about making money, and maybe the powers that be at redbubble don’t make as much money on the Bubblesites.

I’ve been thinking about creating my own photography website for a while now. Maybe this lack of love and support will be the push I’ve needed to move on.

How sad…..

Introducing Duncan - The "Market Man"

3 years ago, I captured an image of a very stoic-looking gentleman at the Flemington Markets in Sydney. Little did I know how much he would resonate with people and how well-received his image would become. I’ve been wanting to show-off this unique man for years now, on a higher level, but have been unable to because I lacked his permission.…

However, today I took a chance and headed to the markets with all the hope I could muster that he’d still be there, and…that I’d be able to find him. Luck (and possibly a bit of fate) was on my side, because after scanning all the people selling corn-on-the-cob, I found him. He wasn’t wearing the same old leather hat as the one in the image, but rather, a modern-looking baseball cap. But, there was no denying his face. I approached him, told him

A short break from Japan

I visited Japan in October 2010, and am STILL working on pics from that trip. Work and just life in general seem to sometimes get in the way of me working on my craft. It’s not a bad thing, but when I was trolling through my albums the other day, I realized that I’ve taken at least another 1,000 shots since my trip to Japan, and haven’t done a thing with them.

So, it’s with that thought that I think I’ll step away from the “Autumn in Japan” series to post a few favorites that have just been waiting for me to give them some attention. I’ve got a very poignant shot ready to go now….and I may just add a couple more before returning to Japan.

Hopefully it’s the break needed to get me back on track again :)

Add On Photography Exhibition

Hi Everyone. I’m going to be part of the Add On Photography Exhibition again this year, which is part of Head On, the biggest annual photography exhibition in Australia. I’ve got 1 image in the show, and when you read the flyer, you’ll notice there are lots of other bubblers in the show as well. If you’re in Sydney, I hope to see you there!

Thanks to everyone for coming!

Well, I can breathe now. My “Almost-Solo” Exhibition with fellow-bubbler, Hilton Luckey, is over.

In all, I think about 1300 people wandered through the art gallery at the Bondi Beach Pavilion.

Heard lots of encouragement and great comments, and I think we both thought it was a great success.

Thanks to those that made it out to see the show, and a big thanks to all of you fellow-bubblers for your continued support!

Jen :)

Exhibition Reminder: Wednesday, Jan. 25th from 6-8pm

Hi Everyone -

This is just a friendly reminder to please stop by and have a look at the works of Hilton Luckey and I beginning tomorrow (January 24th) and running through to the 5th of February. We’re showing our digital photography and imagery at the Bondi Beach Pavilion Art Gallery, and we’re very excited! Check out this link:

And if you’re in the area, you’re also more than welcome to stop in this Wednesday night, 25/1, from 6-8 for Opening Night!

Photography/Digital Imagery Exhibition of Jen Waltmon & Hilton Luckey

My very own (almost!) photography exhibition! I just wanted to share some really great news, and that is that I’m finally exhibiting my photography in a gallery with just one other artist – Hilton Luckey – another artist here on redbubble. This is the biggest opportunity I’ve had to date, because in past exhibitions I’ve shown my work amongst lots of other artists. But this show is big….it’s a one man/one woman show. All artwork will be available for purchase.

If you’re in the area between January 24th – February 5th, 2012, please stop in to have a look. We’ll also throw an official opening on Wednesday, January 25th (the day before Australia Day), with drinks and nibblies from 6-8pm. So, come to Bondi Pavilion Art Gallery. If you’re in Oz, you won’t have to work the next day!
