Artist's Description

Looking up the remains of a redwood that had it’s core burned out during a forest fire; it’s called “The Chimney Tree” because the flames shot out of the center like a smokestack on fire, consuming the soft heartwood and leaving the outer trunk behind, still alive!

Shot in the Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve near Santa Rosa, CA with a Nikon e775.
