Artist's Description

After spending hours rock climbing and clambering up sheer faced outcrops at the Golton Gorge and photographing some stunning images of the Gorge and rock formations, it became clear that the way down was going to be extremely hard for us to make the grade.

David and I came to the top of the Gorge and found a rough track through thick scrub to a deserted copper mine.

After reaching the top of the range, we chose to walk over 15 kilometres along the rocky rough track to get back to our car rather than risk the climb back down the Gorge.

It was over 30 degrees celcius (90 degrees farenheit) in the shade and the long walk, rocks under foot and heat was unbearable, what was worse is that we had both left our drinking water at the car and were unprepared for the extra walk.

This was the sign along the track that pointed to the entrance of the Gorge and about 100 metres to our car that we looked for at the end of the walk, you can possibly imagine how it was a welcome sight.
