Artist's Description

This is a typical modern medium-sized Dutch road bridge, adapted to a completely flat landscape where building high bridges means building enormous ramps.

This is only done where there is very regular shipping, as for instance on the big rivers and canals, The small ones, however, and the River Vecht is considered a small one, in spite of all its historical importance (more about this in connection with so other pictures).

Taken on an early April morning near Weesp/The Netherlands. It actually was one of my first trips with my new Nikon D80.
