Artist's Description

The jetties at IJmuiden harbour are a great place for taking a walk right into the North Sea for more than a mile. Both the southern and the northern ones are long jetties which were built to keep the harbour free from the sand masses that are drifting along the coast here. Going there is ever so different from walking in the forests around here, but it certainly has a great magic of its own.

On this particular afternoon walking there even felt like a lightbath. It was a highly enjoyable experience. Taking a real bath was not yet recommendable, however, with the low temperature of the seawater in April, i.e. about 10 degrees Celsius.
