Artist's Description

This shot was taken on an early January morning last year at the Mirror Lake („Spiegelplas“) near Nederhorst ten Berg. I had gone out early to find a good place for spotting the sunrise at this lake. To my great pleasure not only the sunrise was great, but I was also rewarded by a flock of geese just flying along at the right moment.

The Mirror Lake is a man-made lake, as they are quite a few here in the area, having been created by peat-digging. As one of the few of them it is a pretty deep one, however – 45 meters at certain places -, as additionally it was exploited for sand winning. Its water is much clearer therefore, and you often see skin-divers there doing their training.

I enter this shot for the challenge „Lake Impressions“ in the group „The Beauty of European Waters“, being grateful that the hosts made me dig it up from my picture archive.

Featured in “Everyday Life”.
