trapped. Entangled in the imprints of ‘individualism’ – of the misnomer of democracy, in limiting our freedoms to the 99th percentile because one jackass won’t stay out of it. The freedom to be a member of society exists, but the freedom to be a member of none does not.

Born alone, afraid, we are bred to feel we deserve something. We demand inequality. We demand the right to shit on someone else when the uphill stream floods our dreams.

We are not cogs in one big machine. We are bees in a swarm, useful but replacable. Either you suffer with your brother, working to live and living to work, or use his shoulder to climb your way out and use their lives to work yours.

The pyramiad structure of society has individuals in charge of groups. The individual in charge is superior to this base swarm of workers, but then has his own group of peers to merge with, and they all have their own superior. Everyone has a boss, right?

So what makes one individual out of a group maintain control? Symbolism. Money is a symbol to each individual, and to each individual shares it a different meaning. Some may want to send their kids through college, others want a yacht. Some want to fix the boiler with it and others want a trip to the coast. Whatever. But symbols aren’t just marks on a piece of paper. People are symbols; celebrities are logos of the age. Presidents and kings and queens are just as importantly figureheads as they are intelligent leaders. The dude at the top could be the smartest man on teh planet and perfect for teh function of the job, but may not have the manners or aptitude to portray themselves as an important person, thus unable to ensure their role as a leader (courageous, strong, fearless), and thereby yaddah yaddah.

besides this unfinished point; where does the hierarchy end? Rates of resources – claims on these, and rising oil prices (which are probably due to enhancing security/ensuring they get fuel that they don’t even deserve or own — seriously, they’re the customer. The seller reserves the right not to serve unruly customers).

Freedom gets broken down more impossible the more these structures are reinforced. Fear as a symbol helps maintain the system, and keep divides. But it is the divides which angers, which frustrates the individual. New tangent/rewind; people don’t want the same rights as everyone else, they want to HAVE what everyone else has. Ownership and Freedom… We think being the master is better than being free because we’re sick and tired of the snap of the whip. We want revenge and will take it out on any anonymous poor bastard of a labourer.

We demand to receive, and forget that it is THANKS to someone else that we ever get them. We get angry.

Gah. Impossible to solve with largescale societies like this which have no goal but to sustain themselves. To the end, we will remain like all other species on this planet and change AFTER the environment does, AFTER the months, years and decades of warning we had to alter our behaviour. We will have to go back feel that desire to LIVE, that thankfulness for gifts of any sort.
