Unibus

I tried spinning around once more
with the ripped tops and tassled ends
and found I was not frayed enough
to be amongst their friends.

I asked them if it was my speech
That made them turn away
They whirred a mockery with lines
That read I was a waste.

I drew a dance that said instead
Not what it meant to be
But they curled through the lies
And turned their backs on me.

So i tied my lips
Still smirking a bit
And stared into the moon.

I wondered aloud
To each passing cloud
If I had tried too soon.

With yet no reply
I knew not to try
To share or to assume.

Artist's Description

The whole non-conformity = conforming thing. Need a new word in place of “curled” that reflects the unnatural aspect of such cliques. No easy way. No point in trying. Or maybe you have to try real hard? I don’t know. i think the whole idea is that once you say out loud “I’m cool!” it’s no longer possible to be cool.

blegh.
