Artist's Description

Still working my Wide Angle Wildlife project -I was hoping to get some wide angle pika images today, but no joy. I finally got some face to face pika time, but no images I saved. And the marmots had other things to do, so few images of them, none with the wide angle.

Things on Mt Evans (my summer home) were getting crazy (4th of July, LOTS of people scaring off the critters, lots of people acting goofy). I did run into Dawn Wilson who was teasing me with images of baby otters, too.

Just as I was about to get the heck out of Dodge, I was packing my gear when this nice mountain goat arrived and decided to pose for me. The weather was great – puffy white clouds on one side and dark storm clouds on the other, for some wonderful dappled light (and really challenging light & exposure).

He posed for me for about 15 minutes – I even had a few images of a marmot joining him on the rock. After some wildlife modeling, he decided to join his buddies on the other side of the ridge. That’s Mt Bierstadt and Abyss Lake in the middle ground.
