Went up to RMNP with some friends, and found a bunch of elk right around tree-line (about 11,500ft). This was a mixed group with bulls, cows, and calves.
The males had velvet on their new antlers during the summer, and now that the antlers are fully formed, it’s time to lose the velvet in prep for the pending Fall rut.
I only brought the 300 with the TC, so could only get tight portraits of the bulls (they were close).
