Dreamt It

I can conceive of what it is that keeps you at bay
In early late hours it keeps me awake
Trying to understand the concept of shame
I admit I have not risen in the light
To heights equivalent of others
I admit what you feared
For me has transpired
It is on bent knees I have apologised
Isolated in a dark shower of my sorrow
But I have grasped life with bare hands
Embraced the warmth of others
Given, in open arms
Offered when I had nothing left within
Expressed my thoughts, my mind wide open
Laughed aloud in crowd and all alone
Spoken in soft words of sincerity
Some of these things I feel I miss from you
I haven’t heard your laugh in years
I think once upon a time, we used to hold hands
But I can’t quite remember if it was true
Or if I had dreamt it.
