To The Hawk

What do you feel,
As you float above the earth?
Do you look down
At the flightless humans and
Crawling creatures and laugh,
With a special joy only you can know,
The joy of flight?
When diving on your prey
Do you feel
Compassion,
Sympathy,
Remorse,
Or only hunger, no pain, just hunger.
Untroubled by worldly desires
You fly free, alive.
By wind by storm by setting sun
You live your life.
Oh to fly on your own wings!
