Nudes at night???
One thing I hate is canceling a shoot! One of the models I’m shooting with this weekend has asked if we can reschedule our shoot from a sunset shoot to a night shoot. So I started looking into the idea of doing nudes at night. At first I was bummed, then I started thinking about indoor locations. Of course realizing that I don’t have an indoor place to shoot. Again bummed. But then I started really thinking about it and realized that it might be really really cool to do it outdoors!
Some ideas I’m looking at are things like urban locations, or maybe time lapse stuff where there is a nude model in the scene and you see the car lights streaking by. Or another idea was to find a place up high that overlooks the city and shoot so that you can see the city lights in the distance behind the models pose.
Just some ideas and what I’m thinking about at the moment. Maybe it’ll happen, maybe not… but it would be fun!

I think at night would be very interesting …. is the moon full? I don’t guess you have a place where there are lots of Christmas lights . . . but tiki torches reflected on water are always cool.

Unfortuntely the sky will be a little cloudy so the moon might not be visible. I was thinking about fire on the beach. it would be pretty cool… dangerous but cool!
I shot at night with only a building light in pitch dark just outside my apartment
THe other night I shot on a beach using only a sodium light that was mounted at someones house illuminating the ocean. it turned to produce some very cool looking black and whites. it was clothed shots but still very cool effects.
yes, I was surprised using then a crappy camera, but, they turned out pretty good despite that…I tend to shoot in low light alot anyway, available light and only occasionally use my studio lighting..too much in the way…
I too seem to do a lot of shooting in low light and even still it’s where I feel my skills are the weakest. Strange huh? I’m a little stubborn and I know I should shoot from a tripod but I don’t like them. they slow me down way too much. Maybe I should just start using and see what happens…
at night you have to use a tripod unless you got a really good anti-shake camera
There are lots of great light sources around cities. Shop doors/windows or even street level advertising signs often have gorgeous even lights. You need to shoot at very high ISO but the resulting graininess can add to the effect. The other advantage of shooting at night is the natural ‘modelling’ that’s produced. Lots of areas of shadow to contrast with the lighted areas. Looking forward to seeing your results!
