JASON P DOHERTY is a true veteran of the AMERICAN ART and MUSIC underground. His long history of innovation and neverending creative output have inspired countless others in their quests for personal and artistic evolution. His art and work owes much to the pioneering spirit and creations of industrial music pioneer Genesis P-Orridge, whom he met and performed with once in 1998, and also to the inspiration found in the works of William S. Burroughs, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Saul Williams, as well as the indomitable spirit of the characters in the books Anthem and The Fountainhead.

JPD first achieved some notoriety in high school, producing and circulating the very first independent newspaper in his hometown of Jenks, Oklahoma. An early innovator of mp3 technology, JPD’s early Motherhalo recordings were available freely online as early as 1997 via the then-fledgling internet’s original music outlets Mp3.com and Audiogalaxy, with so-called ‘pirated’ tracks cropping up on Napster and other unauthorized distributiors. Mistress X, a band JPD formed in 1996 with Bryan Peace, Diana Babin, Les Moore and Keith Jones was Oklahoma’s first goth-rock band.

In 2003, JPD then playing with OK based industrial metal trio Gristle Cradle, headed by Gregory Seth, signed with legendary Chicago industrial record label Invisible Records/Underground Inc. and played countless shows that year to audiences from Dallas to Chicago one of these shows is documented entirely on the video Notes From Thee Real Underground: Live, with Martin Atkins, Robert Hyman, Worm, Synchro Nine Factor, Synergy 67 and Kim. In 2004, Steven Blackwell extended an invitation to JPD to form a band together, and AXIS was born; together they worked closely on the bands first shows, lyrics and demos.

Correspondence has been a truly inexhaustible source of inspiration, and JPD has shared long-distance relationships with friends, fans and family.

The singular, most enduring theme in all of JPD’s works is the idea that every being’s potential is absolutely unlimited, and through planned and nurtured experimentation and innovation, the horizons of art and creativity will continue to expand forever.
