Artist's Description

This is Pontefract castle (link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontefract:). Actually there is hardly anything left, only a ruin. In March 1649,fearing for more wars, Pontefract inhabitants petitioned Parliament for the castle to be demolished. I don’t know who and for what put this set of chess here, but after I learned a little about the history of the castle, it made me think that history was also like a game…it was played by the rich and powerful. But as the question that we always ask "Who really wrote the history? The people with power or the ‘common’ people? If the history was really a game for the rich and powerful, in this case, it was the ‘common’ people decided that the game was over. Thanks for looking.
