The Gift

she is so tiny and frail peeking out from
her pink blanket yet she is so very much
alive and part of this life

my world revolves around her and
and each little smile shyly curling in the corners
of her mouth is worth more than the universe
to me

the hours i have spent merely gazing
at her while she sleeps are the happiest
times my heart will ever know and the
moments she is not cradled in my arms
seem like eternity

even though she is a mere few weeks old
she somehow knows how very much i love her
and her beautiful soul has filled the great void
my heart once bore

i marvel at those tiny hands so softly curled
into chubby little fists and her meek sighs
and silly gurgles sound more wonderful to my
ears than any earthly composed symphony

her blue saucer eyes gaze up at me and my
heart pours out its love cute curly blond
locks frame her delicate face and the heavens
surround her head with an angelic glow

each new face she pulls is hungrily devoured
by my minds eye as it stores these beautiful portraits
and whats so wonderful is this precious child God gave
to me forever…not just for this day alone
