Artist's Description

The Earth is covered with pulsating lines of magnetic power that form a grid-work across the entire planet. Some of these currents are known as ley lines, of which I know many people are now aware. Shamans and psychics are also aware of these lines whose energies can sometimes be seen, heard and felt, and they are often referred to as ‘dragonlines’. This dragon-power animates the countryside, revitalizing and enlivening all life with its sacred energy. White horses and dragons are sometimes linked in British folk-lore, and are connected with the well-being of the land among other things. In the painting this natural fertility is represented by the white dragon-mare wearing a crescent moon upon her head and symbolizing Goddess and the ever-renewed fecundity of our beautiful Earth. Her coiled ‘tongue’ spirals forth pouring numinous life-force into the waters that will nourish the land. The head of a ‘sleeping’ king can be seen amongst the roots of the tree, and blackbirds symboliszng the Otherworld are present. Behind him lies an illuminated cave. Before him an offering of wheat and poppies lies on a stone, and his presence indicates his ‘contract’ of guardianship to a sacred site that could span many centuries.
