Artist's Description

This is one of the first icebergs to drift past St. John’s this year. Moving at a speed of about 17 km a day, these bergs have traveled from Greenland along the Labrador current to reach St. John’s. This year is expected to a busy one for icebergs watchers and enthusiasts, as over 500 bergs are expected to pass along our shores.

To me, icebergs are both spectacular and mysterious, a testament to the sheer power and beauty of nature. Even though I’ve seen tonnes of them, I always head out whenever a new one is spotted nearby. They never lose their wonder for me- I understand why visitors travel so far in hopes of spotting one.
