Artist's Description

This oil painting from sometime around 1960 is a self portrait I painted in my parents basement. I find it challenging to really look at this, and loading it on RB has had me do just that… to look at this with over fifty years of hindsight.
Who was I then? Is that band saw in background an unconscious image of my father (it was just one of his many tools down there)?? Is the gray ‘gas meter’ behind the saw symbolic, too? Of what? And my eyes hidden behind those glasses.
Here I am folks, the beginning of a long life, with many adventures and catastrophes ahead! ;-)))
