Rainbow

The pink blossom petals have matted
on the pavement of blacktop, hey
they’re spread and scattered.
I feel the dampness of the day.

Up above in the sky
is a dark cloud forming
and rain is falling
with a tampering sigh.

Now, it is only slightly
drizzling. The news called
for showers, we hoped naught.
Finally I’ve got what I was taught.

Father, come hither quickly.
See what I show to you.
But like a vapor it had
been there and is gone.
