Desdemona portrayed by Jaeda DeWalt (self), Othello portrayed by Cliff B.

This series deals with abuse issues that some of us have had to deal with in our love life, family, marriage, when dating. The tragic love of Desdemona and Othello mirrors these issues that are ultimately rooted in unresolved childhood issues and pain. Art can be a healing vessel, an educating medium which is why am thankful to R Paul Sardanas for commissioning me to be a part of this amazing collection!

Special thanks to my model Cliff B., for bringing so much to the role of Othello. For the complete experience, visit R. Paul’s Chasing Desdemona Gallery

ABOUT THIS IMAGE:
This is a conceptual take on Othello and Desdemona’s tragic deathbed scene. There’s Othello, lording over his slain Desdemona. Free from mortal chains, Desdemona rises up, fearless, she is love, light and courage, a victim no more!

That is why the spirit of Desdemona is dawning angel wings, and summoning light with her hands as they enfold an illuminated butterfly, signaling her transformation, as she draws her light up and radiates it outward.

R. Paul Sardanas, offers a beautiful presentation of the Chasing Desdemona collection (the follow-up to his Othello Falling). This series is his vision, his project. I invite you to have the complete experience by going to his gallery, Chasing Desdemona There you can enjoy a beautiful introduction into the inspiration for the series, along with his poetic thoughts, excerpts from the play, my photography, his paintings and our collaborations. This online collection will benefit a good cause. 20% of all proceeds from my art sales will be donated to CASA.

HOW THIS SERIES CAME ABOUT:
This series is a follow-up series to the online benefit production of “Othello Falling” that R. Paul Saradanas and i performed in the fall of 2001.
The talented R. Paul Saradanas created a new adaptation of the classic Shakespeare play, of which, he transformed to a two-person spoken word
format. He tailored the production into something that could raise awareness and insight into the issue of abuse in our society.
