Artist's Description

I am still learning to love my physical self through the ravages of chronic illness. My body is always changing. My self-portraits are a way to share the struggles of self-love and acceptance.

Now that i have a size zero frame, i can hate on it or i can learn to love this new version of me and make the most of it creatively. I may be this size the rest of my life or ic ould return to a healthy weight and regain my voluptuous curves.

Either way, i need to remain fully engaged with the life i have been given by continuing with my art and dancing in the radiance of love’s everlasting glow. It is how i create hope. Onward and upward!

READ ON . . . for the why behind the what of this self-portrait. Another image from my Camouflage/Chronic series. For the last couple of years, i have been struggling with wasting symptoms. My doctors do not know the source of them.

Normally, i fluctuate between a size three and five. Now, i am barely hanging on to a size zero. This was my attempt to photograph myself in a way that made me look voluptuous. Camouflaged by creative camera angles and high key lighting.
