SELF-ACCEPTANCE
It took me years to muster the courage to march proudly to my own unique beat. I am strange, a little quirky, a bit geeky and embrace all aspects of my self and my creativity. In an a subtle sort of way, this image sums all that up for me, visually. My hand is covering up a key word in the t-shirt and i like the open-ended feel/meaning that creates, “cools as . . .”. The inspiration and details for this image are described below:

ABOUT THIS IMAGE:
It has been awhile since i stepped into the studio. I decided to warm up with something fun and quirky, first.

This image was inspired by a t-shirt i found while sorting through boxes, that said, “cool as fcuk”. In the same box i found a broken pair of eyeglasses. Both of these items cracked me up and i decided i wanted to do something creative with them.

I decided to photograph myself wearing the t-shirt and broken glasses, while doing the opposite of cool. Since i have always felt like the black sheep of my family and like a misfit, socially. Seemed fitting to celebrate my inner-geek, so to speak. The glasses were so busted up i couldn’t get them to stay on my face. So i opted for a pair of retro looking reading glasses, instead. But they were the wrong prescription, and wearing them made me nauseous! LOL So eventually i just shoved them up onto my forehead.

I also wanted to use my makeshift music studio as the background and wear my old skool headphones. But too much detail was lost when i included the studio, in the background, so i decided to do a close-up and photographed this image in my mirror.

I initially only intended to publish the series on Facebook. But the series evolved into something more and become something entirely different. This is the first completed image in the series. One of the more stoic of my poses.

If you look closely, you will see i am holding a camera in my hand and you can see the blue blast of the camera flash. The warmer hues were a result of photographing this in the day time with the sunshine filtering in through my window blinds.

I have a simple, cheap, Canon, point and shoot camera. One thing i love about it, is how it picks up the entire spectrum of colors from cool to warm.
