Sirens Spin Lies

break the bottle over my bow
and say goodbye
this ship will not return
not ever if not now
red will never be on the right
like it had been
so many dawns before
there is enough wind in these fleshy sails
to coast me slowly
down the sound sandy shore
of wherever
but there is not enough rum in the world
to trick me into cruising back into this port
while manatees with seaweed wigs
masked as women
sing on rocks their siren songs
that sound like mothers cries
tell me more truth than you
When mermaids lie I will see you again
but I haven’t met one yet
and hope I never will
