Live Oaks State Park beach area composed of coquina rock formations. This park located near Palm Coast, FL was formerly property of Owen D. Young founder of RCA from VanHornsville, NY. The park has two parts, the beach area along the Atlantic and the gardens area along the inter coastal waterway.
Coquina ( /koʊˈkiːnə/; Spanish: “cockle”) is a sedimentary rock that is composed either wholly or almost entirely of the transported, abraded, and mechanically sorted fragments of the shells of either molluscs, trilobites, brachiopods, or other invertebrates. Closer looks in the rocks shows an abundance of compacted shells and other marine life.
