Artist's Description

A cluster of Gymnopilus mushrooms stand out on the trunk of a Fir Tree in a forested area on south east Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.
Caps 5-18 cm wide; stipes 3-20 cm long and
1-3 cm thick. Gymnopilus junonius mushrooms are found in dense clusters on stumps and logs of both hardwoods and conifers. Gymnopilus mushrooms are orange to yellowish in shade and are widely distributed in North America. They are usually seen from late summer to early winter. They are not edible.

Taken with mirror locked up and timer at 0.4’s at f/11 at 260 mm, iso 200, manual white bal. No cropping. Developed in Lightroom 4.2.
