life poem

At birth I grasped ahold the quill
and dipped it in the ink

and, began to write my poem
in rhyming symphony.

As I grew, the rhyme became
extremely intricate

tampered with by sin
until the words wouldn’t …..quite…..fit.

Jagged sentences appeared
without a couplet.

words swam in my head until

to get, I had to

snatch

as I frantically attempted
to try and make them match.

In confused frustration
I went to the Editor

whose perfect rhyme made my
imperfections stand out more.

Wholly lost on what to do
I gave my poem to him

He did a little “editing”
and made it rhyme again.

I found that if I leave it there
it continues to rhyme

But ends in jagged pieces
when I take the pen to write.
