Artist's Description

This flower is rarely found in the wild on the Isle of Man, but can be found at Glen Maye and on the slopes of South Barrule.

Goldenrod is used in many different herbal remedies and was widely used in medicine in the 15th and 16th centuries. It has also been used as a dye and is the source of the colour ‘goldenrod yellow’.

The Manx name for this flower is “Slat-airh”.
