Artist's Description

Very similar to Hedge Woundwort, this plant can be recognized by its pink flowers. Despite its name, Marsh Woundwort tends to be found on riverbanks and damp meadows rather than on very marshy ground.

Like Hedge Woundwort, this plant’s leaves exude a strong and distinctive smell when bruised, making them easy to identify.

This plant was used in herbal medicine to help stop bleeding and heal wounds. Bruised leaves were placed over the injury and then wrapped in bandages.
