Artist's Description

This type of scurvygrass has smaller flowers and grows closer to the ground than Common Scurvygrass (Cochlearia officinalis), which is also common on the island.

Just like other scurvgrass species, it is rich in vitamin C and was chewed by sailors to prevent scurvy. It is particularly common on roadsides.

The Manx name for this flower is “Scurb Danvargagh”.
