Artist's Description

One of the several plants in the dock and sorrel family that can be found on the island. It is easily identified by its distinctively curled leaves.

Curled dock is particularly prevalent near the island’s seashores, but is quite common and can be found growing almost anywhere.

Like other docks and sorrels, Curled Dock is edible but contains oxalic acid and should be avoided in large quantities.

The Manx name for this plant is “Cabbag chast”.
