Originating in central europe, this plant was introduced in gardens and has spread into the wild.

Orange hawkweed has several other names, including “fox and cubs” and “devil’s paintbrush”.

The Manx name for this flower is “stroin-vuc yiarg”, which means “red pig nose”.
