Artist's Description

The ancient druids considered this to be the most sacred of all plants. Aspirin was first produced from this plant.

Meadowsweet grows in open, grassy areas all over the island. It can often be seen growing on roadside hedges.

The Manx name for this plant is “lus villish ny lheeannagh”, which means “sweet plant of the meadow”.
