Artist's Description

This plant grows in wet, acidic soil. It is particularly common at Eary Cushlin.

This plant can cause disease if eaten by sheep. In Norway, this disease was known as “alveld”, which translates to “Elf Fire”.

The Manx name for this flower is “Lilee ny moaney”, which means “lily of the bog”.
