Inspired by Oberon’s quote;
‘’Fetch me that flower; the herb I shew’d thee once:
The juice of it on sleeping eye-lids laid
Will make a man or woman madly dote
Upon the next live creature that it sees.’’

Oberon, the king of the fairies, first appears in II.ii. He is arguing with his queen, Titania, over a changeling who she possesses and he desires. When she refuses to give up the changeling, Oberon devises a plan to steal it from her. He sends Puck off to find a certain flower whose juices, when squeezed on the eyes of Titania, will make her fall in love with the next creature she sees. Oberon plans to take the child when Titania is so spellbound.

Shakespeare ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’

I always think my images speak for themselves, lol. But they obviously don’t say the same thing to everyone! This image and most of my other flower paintings are about fecundity and feminine creation of life.The flower petals are all reminiscent of Labia and ovarian imagery. There are often small spermazoa racing around the central image but the main emphasis is the feminine, the flower, the vessel, the womb.

This image is not a literal illustration but rather a celebration of the magic of sensuality and femininity. The opening of the flower, the fruits and seeds bursting with ripeness, seed ‘spermazoa’ all racing for a place to implant and grow. This image groans with feminine fecundity
