Hoogerheide, Netherlands

Dutch woman, loving nature, art, history, culture and architecture, thriving on all the colour in the world.

I am an eternal student, museum guide, flying mom and carer. Dutch expat, recently moved to Brussels after living in Singapore for 7 years. I really enjoyed living in South East Asia but now get to re-explore Europe.

Update Dec 2016: We’ve moved back to The Netherlands, now an ‘inpat’ after 17 years of being an expat.

Photography was an old love, rediscovered since doing a course in Digital Photography with the Open University in 2007. I prefer using manual settings and natural light, but I do love the digital darkroom and its possibilities, so far I have used PS Elements 5, 7 and 10.
I am slowly getting addicted to using textures and try to make and use my own images for that.

Flowers, plants and landscapes are my main subjects, but anything colourful will catch my eye. I would love to make more pictures of fauna, but they’re not always so cooperative. And I’m a bit too shy and wary of intruding to make many candid shots of people :-)

I love the way photography makes me look more and become more creative and I thrive on all the colour in the world.

My gear:
I started this digital adventure with a Minolta Dimage Z1, my first DSLR was a Nikon D60, the next one a Nikon D90 and since June 2014 I have a Nikon D7000

Any profits I get from the sale of products with my images are going to Unicef and the Red Cross, apart from the income on the Jane’s Collection, which is in memory of my friend Jane Crosby and goes to the "Make a wish’ organisation as that was one of her last wishes.

New beginnings

I’ve just launched a new album, Jane’s Collection, a series of flower photographs edited with textures and scripts. These were originally made as e-cards for my friend Jane when she was in the last months of her life. She had courageously asked her friends not to buy flowers for her funeral but donate to her ‘Make a wish’ fund instead. I decided I would do so, but I would …

Time out

Dear all, / Just a short note to explain that I’m not really able to be online much due to sad family circumstances, we had to rush back to Holland because my mother-in-law, who was terminally ill, was close to dying. She died this Monday, luckily we were back in time to say our goodbyes to her.

Yay, another sale !

Thank you very much to the lovely person who bought a couple of my pics as cards today/yesterday, very much appreciated. And that on top of having a picture featured in one of the groups I frequent and two top ten places in challenges this week, that feels so nice ! / Thank you ! :-)
