Slaughterhouse

Bloodthirst packaged neatly,
Dead meat
Consumed unthinkingly
Culinary delight, but at what cost?

Dead minds fed by dead flesh.

This flesh once smelt the morning dew
Huddled together for warmth
Looked longingly into the night sky
Moved smoothly through the ocean

Hear the cries of the voiceless
Feel the hopeless suffering and pain
Know truly what your meal cost
And never consume it again.

Artist's Description

This is an appeal to the best in all of us. The desire to live in harmony with other sentient beings.
I accept the choice other’s make to consume meat. I did myself for many years until recently. I have made a life decision that every day makes me feel like a free agent in a world that I can interact with ethically. I urge others to do so as well.
