Here in Your Arms

Squat on a ledge
Overlooking a fertile ravine

A passage for the elements
Seething and churning, flowing and pulsing

The cold wind adds it weight to the creaking boughs above
I watch them bend and return, bend and return

Sitting alone, I long for your embrace like embers
A logfired cabin in the cruel wilderness
I would cling to you intently and forget all outcomes

Empathy and compassion
Cold, stark detachment
Toss the coin of fortune
And see on which shining side it lands

Eyes closed, the spinning duality sings to me
Scithing through the light, clear air
Spinning, spinning always and ever
Forget, oh yes I must forget.

Artist's Description

We all long for a sense of belonging and safe harbour from the torments of our minds. This piece describes that feeling as it comes amidst internal disquiet and turmoil invading under cover of silence.
