PCs Versus Apple i-Products -- Moral Statement

PC’s may be technologically inferior to computing products made
by Apple, but they may be morally superior. You ask me why??

A local UK newspaper has just published a heartbreaking story of
sweatshop conditions at a production factory of one of Apple’s
major contractors who manufactures and exports Apple’s new
iPhone and iPad.

11 workers have committed suicide at the factory, sparking a
full investigation. Wire mesh has now been installed to stop
workers jumping to their deaths from upper story windows;
and all new workers at the facility are now required to sign
a legally binding document stating that not only will they
and their families hold the firm blameless in case of suicide,
wrongful death or self torture, but are forced to promise in
the same legally binding document they themselves will
not commit suicide.

I was thinking of adding an iPad to my computer collection,
but there is no way I can put aside my personal morals in
order to purchase a product whose manufacture is connected
to working conditions so horrible employees of a contractor
manufacturing them see self-murder as a pleasant alternative
to their workplace.

I won’t be purchasing any Apple made product until such
time as either Apple drops its contract with said contractor,
or forces said contractor to both improve its workplace, and
drop the forcing clauses from its workplace requirement
documentation.
