In the dampness of the cellar her bruised and battered body lay. Her breathing laboured and her hair matted and blood soaked.
She lay there for what seemed like an eternity, before Alison could muster the strength to drag herself to the basement door.

She lay near the door for a moment to listen, the only sounds she heard were the familiar creaks and groans of a house she once felt safe in. She pulled her self to her feet and slowly opened the door.

The door creaked as it opened, and daylight invaded the opening, making Alison squint. Her head was pounding, and there wasn’t a place on her body that didn’t ache, but the sunlight seemed to wash away the pain for a split second.

As she stumbled into the hall she noticed that the back door was wide open. Alison tried to recall what had happened, but everything was so scrambled, so blurred. She moved towards the back door to lock it, but she had only taken a few steps into the kitchen when Alison was grabbed so forcibly from behind it knocked her off her feet, her head hit the ground with such force that she almost blacked out. As her vision cleared she caught a glimpse of the face that was extinguishing what felt like her very last breath. Things became blurry, and her vision tunnelled once again to a black silence.

Alison awoke shivering on the cold damp floor, her body screaming in agony. She propped herself up so as to survey her surroundings and her bruised and battered body. She noticed her back door still ajar. Alison stood with much effort and moved towards the door. It was dark, the sky like dark molasses, it glistened in places like the sun would as it hit the molasses shiney surface.

Alison decided that she had to get out she needed to make it somewhere safe, and her home, or the house she had referred to as home, no longer made her feel that way. She had to get to the hospital or the Police station, somewhere someone could help.
